Sherri Handley
co-founder and co-executive director
A former elementary school teacher with more than a decade of experience, she brings a strong foundation in education, communication, and child development to her leadership. Throughout her career, Sherri has been recognized for her organizational strengths, collaborative approach, and commitment to building supportive environments where individuals and families can thrive. Over the past four years, she has worked diligently to foster a strong and connected community among self-directed families in her region, helping create opportunities for greater inclusion, shared resources, and mutual support. As the mother of a young woman with an intellectual disability, Sherri’s commitment to this mission is both professional and deeply personal. What began as a desire to create a meaningful and fulfilling life for her daughter has grown into a broader vision of cultivating a compassionate, inclusive community that uplifts and supports individuals with developmental disabilities at every stage of life.
Margaret (Marcie) German
co-founder and co-executive director
A registered nurse (RN) with 36 years of experience, she brings deep clinical expertise, compassionate leadership, and a strong commitment to person-centered care. Her background in hospital, psychiatric, and home-health settings along with her experience as a charge nurse gives her a broad understanding of the challenges families face and the support they need.
As the parent of a young adult man with developmental disabilities, Margaret’s commitment is both professional and personal. She brings that perspective to advancing a more inclusive, supportive community where individuals with disabilities can thrive.
